It's fair to call this thrashcore/powerviolence or whatever. This is some fast hardcore punk that probably left some gnarly holes in the esophagus of the lead vocalist with his heart racing like a rabbit on the crackpipe. DFL, or Dead Fucking Last plays sloppy hardcore punk and was quite surprisingly released by Epitaph Records in the middle of the fucking 90s while they were riding the wave of melodic quasi-hardcore that MTV had a hard on for at the time. No traces of Bad Religion, Offspring, NOFX, or Rancid is found here. This is straight in your face, slam dance ready chaos that should be played at high volume in your grandmother's presence...Preferably during a heartwarming family outing, like a funeral or a Bris. This was produced by Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys and it has a certain Beastie aesthetic to it if you're aware of their hardcore punk output and that they started off as a hardcore punk band who worshiped the Bad Brains. This is definitely something you should listen to. Enjoy!

Hellfire Trigger Re-Up

It has come to my attention that one of my earliest posts needs to be re-uploaded, so here is Hellfire Trigger, a now defunct (or apparently not?) hardcore band out of North San Diego County. These guys rule(d), they would always come play shows in the High Desert with Dirtbag and Spitting On Cops. Here's their two releases, both on Brain Constipation Records, "Stand Up" and "Sent Down To Burn" on one .RAR for your enjoyment. Vortex fail to innovate, but "Thrash Is Alive" is further proof that thrash metal is and always will be alive and well. I'd be 100% totally knocked out of my seat if this genre fades into obscurity again. This demo from this Croatian group came out in 2009. I don't know of any further releases by these guys. Movie Review: Clerks...37 Dicks And Still Counting...

I haven't done a movie review in over a year and I wish to do more of these. I'm just really lazy. Seeing how this blog has months between updates and updates tend to come in clusters, I need to get on top of things...Here's my review of Clerks, one of my all time favorite movies...

37 dicks. That's right. When I was younger (I'm only 22 right now), running into a girl who you knew had performed fellatio on that many men was a blessing in disguise. You knew, that without a doubt, you were walking away a happy camper having had your penis loved on by the taste buds of the lady of the nearest lake. I saw this movie when I was 13 or 14 and to be honest, it only really made the impact on me later in my life. 37 dicks is something I certainly wouldn't aspire to if I were a female and now, as a male in my early 20s, I ran the risk of contracting some serious STDs in my more promiscuous days. It's a turn off now. And to state the obvious, being in a committed relationship is enough to turn you away from sluts...Not to degrade women in any sort of way, there are just some out there that are walking receptacles for infected semen. Now, a woman should be proud of her sexuality. This isn't the 50s mindset anywhere, but I'll stop simultaneously preaching misogyny and feminism for the sake of completing this review...And even I after proof reading that, do not understand what point I was attempting to make...The Japanese need to make a Clerks tentacle porn with a beast of 37 dicks. I'd watch the shit out of that and I absolutely hate anime and hentai. Fuck it...Balls...Shit...FUCK...

This movie did break new ground in that it is almost entirely dialogue. Nothing really happens that isn't a result of the movie's vivid explicit spectacle of speech. It's a lot of weed, dick and fart jokes and solidified Kevin Smith's career as the sole purveyor of weed, dick and fart joke in a seemingly intelligent way. His vocabulary is his strong suit and the delivery of some of these jokes includes such examples of uncommon lexicon that a having a lexicon handy is the only way some of the humor can be grasped in layman's terms. Don't expect to get get everything in your first viewing. It takes several to truly extract every last laugh from the flick.

The story is basically about two guys at two businesses owned by the same mysterious boss who talk...A lot...Most of these discussions have absolutely nothing to do with the actual plot. Something about 37 dicks...Something else about playing hockey on the roof of the convenience store and something about fucking. And BERZERKER! Figuring out the plot is a daunting task in itself because you're constantly sucked into the film's irrelevant dialogue. Plot twists? Nah, well maybe if you count a girl fucking a dead guy in the bathroom due to a case of mistaken identity...

You see, some, in not most of the funniest moments are the crudest. For example, when Randal reads off the porno movie titles in front of the mother and her young daughter without a care in the world. He's not oblivious to their presence, he just flat out does not give a flying fucking fuck. Let's take a look at the main characters for a moment. Dante is a little whining bitch who got called in on his day off. I flat out don't really like him, because he's pretty much a bitch. The character is supposed to represent Kevin Smith in his youth, which leads me to the conclusion that Kevin Smith is a whiny bitch...And a fat whiny bitch at that, who bitches cause he had to buy two plane tickets to properly seat his gargantuan ass...In fact, I hate the Dante character so much, had the original ending been included, the film would have worked excellently as a tragedy for someone who almost cannot be sympathized with. Maybe tragedy isn't the term I'm looking for...Maybe his death would have summarized the previous generation's complacency in the world. Although it wouldn't have been the gunman's motive (which is theft), I'd interpret the shooting as having been a mercy killing. Dante is so self absorbed and miserable, I'm sure he would have welcomed his demise with arms wide open. Maybe that was Mr. Smith's original intent, but those test screenings are certainly a bitch and a half...And maybe then we wouldn't have the travesty that is Clerks 2 if Dante had died, seeing how he is essentially focal point of the movie. Maybe they could have made "Clerk: A Sequel To Clerks" starring the best part of the movie, Randal Fucking Graves!

Randal is awesome. Randal is king! Randal makes the movie...Who the fuck thinks of the independent contractors on the uncompleted second Death Star? Randal does! He is the true genius of the movie. And we also have Jay and Silent Bob making their debut, although their role is minimal in comparison to their later outings. They are relegated to a bunch of one-liners. That honestly does make the movie that much better. We can argue about whether their expanded roles in future Kevin Smith movies added to them at, but hell, they at least got their own swear-fest out of it.

What this movie did for me was to expand on penchant for conversation. I now regularly throw words into my speech that tend to throw people off and give of an aura of intelligence that has yet to be proven real or false by myself or anyone else that I have attempted to fool. I have the talent of bullshiting my way through conversation and I have this movie to thank for that. I constantly will steer the topic towards simultaneously inane and insane topics that don't matter in the grand scheme of things, or happen to even be relevant to my existence.

Clerks 2 was shit. It killed the spirit of the first film and was basically a re-hash of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back mixed with a little bit of the magic that made Clerks what it is. Clerks is a great film, it really is. You will fail if you even attempt to try to recreate that. And even the father of this great film, Kevin Smith himself, couldn't do that. You can't fuck with this movie. You just can't. It's been a good 4 years since I last watched it. I love it, but maybe I've seen it too many times. I can't even count. So fuck it. If you haven't seen it, then you need to. I highly recommend watching the original cut included on the Clerks X DVD set. It's better than the final product, albeit a rough and unfinished version.

What did Clerks contribute to society? Nothing really. It's all about 90 minutes of entertainment. But there's one thing that stands out...I always end up in a conversation with whomever my current girlfriend is at the time about the men (or women) they've slept with. It always goes that way. This conversation is inevitable. Particularly "how many"...I always reply "In a row". And if she asks you first, you answer and that's her reply, you have found yourself a keeper. That's Clerks' contribution to society...A dick joke that never gets old.

Zeke-Death Alley

Zeke is Zeke. Not any other band really quite like them, except for Motörhead. Zeke is Motörhead on crack, whereas Motörhead was already rock 'n' roll on speed, so I can come to the conclusion that this band is fast and they're cranked up on methamphetamines and cocaine derivatives. Did I mention already that this band is really fucking fast, but also musically tight. Tighter than the majority of bands out there, including the most metalest of the bunch. This is faster than shit Motörhead worship with a punk aesthetic and approach and it's fucking tight to, if I haven't already mentioned that. It's tighter than a virgin's un-invaded vaginal cavern waiting for daring spelunkers to infiltrate and lay claim to being the first to ever investigate. It's also tighter than an asshole that hasn't been massaged to accommodate a fleshy, cylindrical appendage that squirts salty, warm, expired milk when total utter happiness has been achieved. It's also way tighter than you, because you suck. So fuck you. And finally, Enjoy!

Power-Violence...Almost the same fucking thing as thrashcore and a less metal variant of grind, which is a metal-ish variant itself of thrashcore, hardcore and power-violence. Which came first? The chicken or the egg? I don't know exactly where I'm going with this one and if I had a point, it was certainly lost in my head...Somewhere...Ok, the point is FUCK THE CHICKEN AND FUCK THE EGG! Was it the Sex Pistols in England or the Ramones in America? Who cares who started it? It's fucking music...Music?? I almost cannot think of a genre short of noise "music" that is more anti-musical that power-violence...POWER-MOTHER-FUCKING-VIOLENCE...It kills...Fuck On The Beach more or less makes me want to fuck on the beach, and fuck myself up on the beach. I remember being on Chat-Roulette because of my friend B-Rad (who knows what he was doing on that site), beating myself up, while people beat themselves off...Probably to my self beating, which I'm quite good at. I'm almost positive I gave myself a concussion that night. I'm definitely deficient the brain cells these days. Possibly due to that incident. And it was all for the benefit of some sicko across the country getting his rocks off. I felt dirty, used and abused...I'm your slut...And for whatever reason I think of violent sounding hardcore punk when I'm participating in illicit sexual favors for random people...Maybe you will to. Kottonmouth Kings-Sunrise Sessions

People ask me all the time if I am a bro. No, not the Midwest or East Coast variety of douchebag, but the Southern California dirtbike riding, black sock wearing, SRH reppin' kind. My listening choices include the Kottonmouth Kings (and other Subnoize acts), I ride a dirtbike, I drive a Ranger prerunner wannabe truck, I'm an asshole, I have a collection of flat-bill hats...So I guess I am a bro. Or a brunk rocker. Yup, Up the Brunx! hahaha.

I love the Kottonmouth Kings. I do. You can research their history a little bit and find out that Brad Xavier was in the O.C. Hardcore band Doggy Style at one time, but most judge off face value. This is their latest record, "Sunrise Sessions", which is more or less, a substantially more mature output from the "smoke weed, drink, ride dirtbikes" sound of their previous records. This is a actually a laid back, mellow, reggae-tinged collection of stoner rhymes. It's quite fucking good. Here we find the crew stripping away most, if not all of the punk rock and club anthems for a more coherent and concise collection of tracks.

This is their second album with the Dirtball, who's speed rap style fits this style rather well. The Kottonmouth Kings' other experiments with a reggae style, namely select tracks off of "Royal Highness" were better and musically more reggae than hip-hop, but still, this is a style they should stick with. The club anthems have more or less been spun off into Kingspade and the punk rock is going on in the X-Pistols, two side projects that have their own individual merits and are worthy of a look.

Arson Anthem-Insecurity Notoriety

I am a complete and total fucking hypocrite. I post a huge and somewhat anti-illegal downloading rant a few months back and promptly abandon this blog. Well, I'm over it. I really love illegal downloads. This is how I get 95% of my music nowadays and it has effectively killed the music industry to some extent. So, what's to hate about it? Nothing. Love it. It's killing the rabid dinosaur of an RIAA and it will eventually leave bands to focus on making good music and performing said good music to a live audience, where they can buy tickets and t-shirts at an over inflated price...Almost 100 dollars to go see Danzig with Doyle and original members of Samhain as Danzig Legacy...You see what I mean? These artists will make their money. I bet a t-shirt will be 30 bucks at least...Way to get ahead in a down economy, so fuck it...Simple as that.

Now let me get to this post. Here is Arson Anthem. Crusty hardcore from Phil Anselmo, Hank 3, and Mike Williams. Looking at the names here, this is an obvious supergroup. I don't really listen to Eyehategod, so I can't compare this Mike Williams' claim to underground street cred. Hell, I don't even listen to all that much sludge metal...Except for some Amebix, if you wanna call them that and some stoner sludge, like Bongzilla and Weedeater. But, he's got a raspy voice that suits this old school hardcore throwback nicely....

This ain't no country music either, but Hank Tres is in the band. It doesn't even sound like Assjack, which is admittedly more metal. And frequent Hank 3 collaborator, Phil Anselmo is in the band as well. This ain't Pantera or Superjoint Ritual either. Probably for the best to. As much as I hate admitting I like Pantera a lot, this would suck ass if it sounded like that at all. Pantera is dead and left in it's wake a zillion nu-metal bands, something people call hardcore, and angry macho men fat kids with zits who fuck up moshpits worldwide, so it's kinda a good thing.

What we have here is a little throwback to a time that time itself forgot. HARDCORE! Real fucking fast as shit hardcore punk that pulverizes bunnies in a Gallagher fashion. Don't forget your pancho! Ear plugs are a neccessity for people under 48" tall and those with a heart condition. This is the shit...Plain and simple. I love the shit out of this record. I would give it a ZER if I was the all-mighty ZER, but hell I'm not...So I give it a DER. Enjoy!

D.F.A. is a Canadian Thrash Metal/Crossover Act and play some of the most rippin' thrash I've listened to in a while. The whole New Wave Of Thrash Metal has been defined by newer bands that take the Crossover aesthetic to a whole new level and expand upon what D.R.I. arguably started. I'd say this new wave is way more Hardcore influenced than the original purveyors of Thrash. I will go as far to say that the new wave is carrying the torch of hardcore punk more so than the new hardcore out there. You'll always have "throwback" bands, but it's not safe to call the newer thrash a throwback to 80s thrash metal. It's an evolution that expanded on Crossover and if anything, it's a throwback to Hardcore Punk...With obviously better instrumentation and musical prowess. I hope to hear more from this band. Interview With Mark Prindle Of Mark's Record Reviews.

I am shifting gears here at the Blog Of Least Resistance. I am going to no longer focus on free downloads. I'd like this to be more of a record review/interview site. So in my inaugural ceremony I bring you a quick email interview with Mark Prindle Of Mark's Record Reviews, the site I will be attempting to rip-off in the coming months. There will still be occasional downloads, but I will be including in depth reviews and the occasional interview to differentiate this site from the rest of the blogging scene. If you have been living under a rock, or have some semblance of a life away from the computer, Mark Prindle has maintained his website for 16 years. It is a resource for some of the funniest and brutally honest reviews on the web. As well as his hilarious interviews with many sorts of different figures in the alternative music world. His site has had me laughing my ass off for many years. What is important to note is that his site, while not a music blog, predates the structure (or lack of) and writing style exemplified by many of the blogs out there. I don't know how I'd be writing my reviews if it weren't for stumbling upon his site many years ago. He's a big influence. I just wish I had his wit. This is my first interview ever, as you can tell. My lack of interview skills is evident to the trained reader, but know I gave it my best here. He could of ripped into me and tore me a new asshole, but he didn't. If I had chosen to interview Metal Mike from the Angry Samoans, another noted music critic in punkland, he would have. If you can't guess, I am referencing the Punk forums on Myspace, circa 2006 and 2007...Anyways, here's Mark Prindle! Enjoy!

How has life been treating you lately?

Pretty well, thanks! I had a very difficult 2010, having to deal with a painful marital separation and long-term unemployment, but the past six months have been much better. I have given up drinking, found a wonderful new girlfriend and apartment, and begun working temp jobs to keep my savings from completely dwindling away. I still need a full-time job, but at least I'm not drinking myself into blackouts and waking up handcuffed to hospital beds anymore.

I stumbled upon your record reviews site many years back, before the blog had really caught on and although your site lacks free downloads, I think it is one of the precursors to the music blog. Some bloggers have developed a "Prindle-esque" style of record reviews. I know I have. I'm certainly nowhere near as humorous as you, but I give it a try. Tell me, what has influenced your writing style above all?

Boredom. I love talking about music, but I can't stand writing straightforward reviews. That's why I'd make a terrible journalist; straight, serious writing bores the hell out of me. Not to READ, mind you -- I read nothing but nonfiction and am thrilled that so many people have the discipline and interest to write in a straightforward factual manner. However, although I can write that way (and have for 15 years in my PR career), it's not all that fun. If I'm going to waste all my free time writing, it had better be fun.

I relate more so to a reviewer if they write in a similar style as you do. You seem to have a way of blogging through your reviews. Is that intentional? Or does it just happen that way?

My web site is the only personal writing I do, so I use it not only as a record review guide, but also as a diary and creative writing outlet. My site pre-dates blogs by several years, so I'm definitely not imitating that aesthetic. I think we all have the same drive though: the urge to write anything we want free of editorial constraints.

Is there something you wanted to review, but couldn't? Like there was almost nothing that could be said that hadn't already been said before?

No, I could review anything. All it takes is a few knock-knock jokes and stories about my dog.

I was reading your reviews of Agnostic Front the other day. On your "My Life, My Way" review, you say that speed alone isn't enough to hold your interest. I'm assuming you don't mean the drug, but what does a hardcore band have to do to hold your interest nowadays? Are there any bands that do?

They must display either a strong personality, a unique take on the genre, or simply the ability to write catchy and original chord changes. I don't keep up with current hardcore, but if Fucked Up counts, I do like them. I love how anthemic they are, and I find many of their songs quite catchy. I recently downloaded albums by over 100 old hardcore bands I'd never heard. Some were generic and forgettable, but there were some really terrific bands in there too. Check out Malignus Youth if you've never heard them. They had a really unique sound. If I could remember the names of any others off-hand, that would be very helpful.

Of the newer releases by older bands, which would you say have both stayed true to their roots and has been relevent to today? In any genre.

I don't think music needs to be relevant to a particular time period. In fact, it probably shouldn't be. Artists should strive to create timeless work, not work that will only appeal to today's listeners. The Spice Girls were plenty relevant in their day, but who gives a shit about them now? As for staying true to their roots, AC/DC, Motorhead and Neil Young certainly qualify. Bad Religion does too, but I'm not sure they even enjoy the music they're playing. If you listen to Greg Graffin's solo records, it's clear that punk rock isn't his chief interest anymore. It probably hasn't been for some time. But he knows that Bad Religion fans expect Bad Religion music (he learned that lesson from the reaction to "Into the Unknown"), so he delivers. I shouldn't complain, considering what happened to The Dwarves after Blag Dahlia got tired of hardcore.

I'd go as far as to say the new thrash metal bands are carying the torch of hardcore more so than the modern "Hardcore" and "Metalcore" bands are. At least in the delivery and attitude departments. There seems to be a genuine cross polination of style between the scenes. It's more musical than"crossover thrash" was, but it still sounds way more punk than the 80s pure thrash bands. What do you think of the New Wave Of Thrash Metal?

I love their sound. They remind me of old DRI and stuff like that. I haven't spent enough time with any of them to know which are the best songwriters of the bunch, but I love the fact that they exist!

What do you think of a genre like deathcore, combining Metalcore with the Cookie Monster?

That's actually not how I hear deathcore. I hear deathcore as a dumbed-down version of metalcore. Metalcore to me means intense, difficult aggressive bands like Converge, Botch, Coalesce, Every Time I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan. But all the deathcore I've heard is just guys blasting away at two or three chords and bellowing. Have I just not heard the good ones?

How has your musical taste evolved? I see you're becoming harder on punk and hardcore. What do you find yourself listening to mostly nowadays?

I'm all over the place. I keep buying books about musical subgenres and then downloading hundreds of albums by bands discussed in them that I've never heard. So for a while I was listening to British hardcore bands from 1988-1991, then American hardcore bands from 1980-86, and just recently I listened to about a hundred albums by "progressive metal" bands. That's a difficult subgenre because it includes everything from Dungeons & Dragons nerd-prog (Dream Theater) and overblown operatic garbage (Queensryche) to awesomely intense death/thrash/grind/black/psycho-metal (Enslaved, Voivod, Meshuggah, Deathrow, Deathspell Omega, etc). I currently have a book coming in the mail about British hardcore 1980-83, so I'm sure I'll be listening to a lot of that soon!

Are you a nostalgic person who goes back to the music of your youth, or do you prefer the new bands to the old?

I don't prefer new bands to old, but I'm always looking for great bands that I've never heard. I enjoy my old records too, but I can sing all of those in my head so I don't need to listen to them.

What was your favorite interview to conduct?

Billy Zoom because I was drunk off my ass!

Who turned out to be nicest? Who was the biggest asshole?

GBH's Colin Abrahall was belligerent, but he had every right to be; prior to our interview, Go-Kart's PR guy alerted him to my GBH review page, on which I ream pretty much their entire catalog! Aside from him, they were all nice -- at least until afterwards, when I've alienated a few through drunken emails and childish behavior (including Steve Albini, Henry Rollins, King Missile's John S. Hall and the Cows' Kevin Rutmanis -- though I think a couple of them have forgiven me by now).

Is there anyone you have been trying to interview, but it never seems to work out? Like the person is too busy all the time, or they do whatever they can to avoid you?

Jello Biafra refuses to speak to me because I sided with the other Dead Kennedys in my interviews with them. I can understand that; I shouldn't have taken sides in a legal dispute that had nothing to do with me.

If you could interview one person that you haven't interviewed before, before you died, who would that person be?

Have you been following any of the blogs that have popped up in recent years? Which one's are your favorite?

No, I don't follow any blogs. Unless Facebook is a blog!

What is your thought on the proliferation of free music downloads? Are we hurting anyone by sharing their music for free? Should music be free for everyone? Has it gone too far?

Music downloading has quite literally destroyed the record industry. Nobody buys CDs anymore, because why should they? It's much quicker and easier to just steal it off the Internet. Music should not be free, and it has definitely gone too far. Nevertheless, as an important record reviewer and tastemakers, I feel it is my duty to continue downloading every album in the world.

What's the status on Red Eye? You haven't made an appearance in a while.

The old booker accepted a production job with Greta Von Sustern's show, and the new booker ran across an extremely offensive and pointlessly racist joke on my web site. So I've essentially been banned.

If you could take 3 things with you on a desert island, what would they be?

A ship, a crew and enough gasoline to get me home

Say that you could only take records...A total of 5, and a record player. You had no access to water or food. As you slowly meet your demise, what would the soundtrack consist of?

The first Ramones album, The Cars' "Candy-O," Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here," AC/DC's "Flick of the Switch" and Aerosmith's "Rocks." Those aren't my favorite albums in the world; I just think they'd be nice to die to.

Now for random questions cause I wanna ask...

Favorite food? Favorite drink?

Pizza and Diet Coke. If you'd asked me two months ago, I'd have said Vodka.

Worst band of all time?

Eagles, unless Billy Joel counts as a band

I'm definitely not a country-western fan, but I love Johnny Cash. Hardcore is an awesome genre, but the Cro-Mags are godawful.

Best is Mr. Show. Worst is nearly everything else. I do like Community, Arrested Development and SCTV though.

Favorite movie? Least favorite?

Favorite is "The Decline of Western Civilization." Least favorite is "Breaking the Waves."

The Death Of The Music Blog...

This is something I've been wanting to write for quite some time, but never did, because I am an extremely lazy and busy person...Two opposites that kinda do work together in some ways. I am writing this because I am a firm believer that the music blog community has lost it's way and has been replaced by a quick Google search to find a particular album, rather than downloading one based on a blogger's impassioned recommendation. It was always "convenient", but the discovery of new, unknown artists has been replaced with a desire to find one artist by simply inputing "band name" and "mediafire" into Google's all too helpful search bar which aids in finding everything from today's hot news stories to a porn star's filmography. It's gotten so convenient that I don't even bother reading the blogger's words...For all I know, he could of written a very funny and/or insightful review on the material he posted. But I don't know that, because I went straight to the Mediafire link and was 2 minutes away from enjoying some Scandinavian D-beat band that would of been obscure two years prior to it's posting. It's not necessarily a bad thing that Mp3 blogging brought to my attention so many amazing (and even more shitty) Hardcore, Crust and D-beat bands...It's a bad thing that no body pays attention to them. I looked on my Mediafire account the other day...You know who gets the highest number of downloads? Pennywise, Leftover Crack, Rancid and The Casualties. This proves my point. They probably found the links using Google. They didn't even bother reading the blog, because they found my link and got what they were looking for. The kids these days still only seem to be interested in the bigger bands. I catered to all forms of punk and hardcore when I was actively posting on The Blog Of Least Resistance. I did post a lot of bigger bands. Why? Because I liked them. But what I really wished is that maybe people would have stuck around and found something more obscure. Something that you won't read a Wiki about, or actively search for. One of the great things about blogs was the discovery aspect. This was our version of tape trading. Now look at what it's becoming.

When I first got into the blogging scene, there was a genuine sense of community. The write ups and the comments were well thought out and showed that the people posting and downloading the album actually cared. No it's 90% spam. I post something I know will get a lot of downloads and what happens? It gets the downloads, but no one other than a bot has something to say about it. This is not a criticism so much of the blogger themselves. Most of the blogs that stated 5 years or so ago that are still around do actually care. It's the crop of "Wal-Mart" blogs that popped up in their wake. No write up, sometimes no tracklist, no reason to download other than the artwork looks cool. I'll be honest, there was a few stages here at this blog where I was too lazy and apathetic to post any kind of write-up. But a lot of times I did. I'll admit I'm no Mark Prindle when it comes to my reviews, but I at least tried to give something to the reader on occasion. It's these blogs that have consistently done that from day one that I have a problem with. Does the reader download it because it's labeled as "Crust" or because it's the only record by such and such band they don't have yet? What's the motivation here? The blogger's job was to give us a reason to download it. Whatever they could. And it was appreciated.

The blogging community, or should I say, the "Music blogging community" has become something that will likely die out soon. What was a tool for people to share music and experiences from said music has become too convenient for people to snatch and grab some free music. These blogs are not even what they were because the reader has discovered they can just use Google to get everything. The CD killed the tape. Mp3 killed the CD. Mp3 blogs made Itunes functionally useless. Google killed the Mp3 blog. Google wins. Convenience always seems to prevail. It's funny how that works.

The only way to save the Mp3 blog is too maybe reserve them for posting only out of print or hard to find records. Maybe demos from your crappy grindcore band, or demos from your cousin's power metal band. We need to stop posting what can be bought relatively easily. We need to reserve this space for obscurity. We need to reserve this place for unsigned band promotion. The blogger's themselves seem to care more about site traffic and blog promotion than for the unsigned band that asks them for a review and to have their demo posted. When posted, they seem to easily get lost in the sea of big names on the blogsite. I know people care more about Guttermouth than Spitting On Cops, but come on? Why don't we leave this space to help out the little guy? I'm guilty of it myself. I've posted way too many bigger names than obscure bands and it sucks. Even if we post a bigger band, we should at least have the decency to give the record a proper write up. I'll no longer post something without saying something about it. Never again. We need to bring the joy of discovering new old music back to the music blog.

If you can buy it relatively easy, then buy it. We do hurt some smaller bands who have a proper release out by posting every song on the album in it's entirety. Say they pressed 500 of them and can't move them, except at shows...The band got fucked in the ass there. Unless they are completely anti-capitalism/anti-consumerism/anti-ism and have explicatively stated they want their record posted everywhere for free, we shouldn't fuck with their need to make their money back on it. Unless it's Metallica. Then by all means post the living shit out of it. I heard Lars Ulrich eats babies. What a sick fuck.

I happen to see almost no issues with posting a RIAA band or other bigger names. I just say "do it at your own risk". For all too many reasons. There's the obvious "DMCA" notices and possible shutdown of your blog, but there's also the fact your blog will likely be overlooked because you posted something easy to find elsewhere. Your other posts will likely not be read and that obscure Japanese HC band you had to share with the world will not get it's fair due because the mindset of the downloader tends to lean on the snatch and grab aspect of it. I hate the music industry as much as anyone, and while we're not giving them anything, in fact taking, we're hindering the smaller bands and labels by including them in a sea of bigger names. Again, we should stick to unsigned bands, out of print, or hard to find stuff. Once the Mp3 blog caught on, everyone started their own punk or metal blog. And 90% of them have the same or eerily similar content. You can go here and you can go here, but you'll go there because they use Mediafire and the other uses Rapidshare. We need to bring the diversity back. When I found blogs like 7inchpunk back in the day, you realistically couldn't get any of it unless you had an Ebay account and something called a "disposable income". They had the hard to find stuff and at the time, no one had it. Then it caught on and it was reposted over and over and over again on many different blogs. Now you could find The Fuck-Ups "FU82" on at least 10 different blogs, including this one. Maybe everything that needed to be posted has been posted already. But when it's reposted without an opinion from the poster, it's just another link. Another sign of the Mp3 blog's impending doom.

The Mp3 blog will not in itself die. People always find a way to share their music. I remember using Soulseek. The chat in the Punk/Hardcore room used to be insightful discussion about punk and hardcore. Now it's basically "n-word this, n-word that". It's pretty racist up in there. Soulseek seemed to die out somewhat. At it's pique, there were a few hundred in the room, now maybe 100-150 depending on the day...They're all still stingy assholes and you have to be on their user list and part of their secret club to download from them and everyone seems to log off when you're getting what you looked so hard for. And they don't ever seem to log back in. That's what originally made me turn to blogs in the first place. No judgmental pricks with download limits and a que so long your download doesn't take a week to start. The blogging world has it's share of judgmental pricks, but not as many. One thing it lacks is the rules...Unless the uploader used Rapidshare or a similar hosting site. What will die with the Mp3 blog is the spirit. It has become a ghost town. I used to like reading what the poster had to say, but even for myself, it has gotten to the point where it's hard to care when there's free music at your fingertips, one-click away. We love our instant gratification.

The music blog has come under fire by many for it's non-monetary nature and for taking the thrill out of finding music. I'll be honest, it has. Most of these critiques come from middle aged holdover's from the original HC scene who had to wait month's for that blank cassette tape to come back filled with music. That must have sucked...Waiting a few months to find out if the band you so desperately wanted to hear was any good. I'm betting these guys got coal in their stockings a few times. What the blog did was take out the middle man. In the beginning anyways, it was a form of electronic tape trading. You had someone there hyping what they posted. It might have not been any good, or might not have been your style, but still, the blogger had to essentially "sell" you on it with their review, the provided band history and whatever reasons they might have for a recommendation. Most blogs now are photo, tracklist, and link. Nothing else. It just sucks now.

I have over 40,000 songs indexed meticulously on my Itunes, backed up on 2 hard drives...Why? No idea. I've been hoarding music for a while. The problem being, I've listened to maybe half of it...And that's a very liberal estimation. I keep the music I don't like. Maybe to give it another chance one day, maybe for boasting purposes, I don't know. I estimate that I have paid for a total of 1,000 of these songs...They were my CD back-ups, and now I don't even have the original CDs. I have my vinyl collection, but it still pales in comparison to my army of Mp3s. I downloaded these is my incessant urge to find new music. Most of these were picked off of blogs. I stopped caring 20,000 songs ago, replacing "blogspot" in my search with "Mediafire". The joy in the hunt was lost for me. I used to search for one thing and then read the rest of the blogger's site if it was in English. Then I stopped giving a fuck about one asshole's opinion. I wanted music and I wanted it now. If I ever was subject to a search and seizure by the RIAA, I'd be millions in debt. And I'd laugh all the way to the courtroom. Fuck them. Back to my point if I still had one...I stopped caring about discovering music. I just wanted it and now it's old. I think the blog is dead because it has made finding specific music too easy. We are no longer discovering, we want what we know and don't yet have.

So fuck it all. I'm gonna go masturbate. This aimless rant made me horny.

The Rezinators are an underground hip-hop/comedy group from Apple Valley. This is a 100% DIY recorded in a shed on a 10 year old computer with a "Mic In A Box". The beats are made with Fruity Loops and various other shit you can download off of Limewire and use a Keygen to crack. It's fucking great quality considering the complete lack of funds. Style wise, the songs jump around, but it shows a certain versatility that most lack. The lyrics are punch-line heavy and are filled with weed, dick, pussy and fart jokes. Some may call it juvenile, but I call it fucking awesome...The lyrics are not bad at all, despite their content. I'd go as far as to say they're well written, even if written for the pre-pubescent boy in all of us. This is for stoners, by stoners. Weed is suggested, but ingestion is not a requirement. I highly recommend a download for anyone who appreciates and supports the hip-hop underground. "Hoetry 101" and "Time Machine" are the standouts. Enjoy!

The Humble Gods is a punk rock side project of Daddy X from the Kottonmouth Kings. People who know their history would know that the Humble Gods came first and even prior to them, Daddy X fronted the OC hardcore band, Doggy Style (along with Lou Dog on drums). I tend to avoid all things 77 since I got out my "Sex Pistols, The Clash" faze way back before the time of the dinosaurs...And yes I do mean Playstation 2 and the O.G. Xbox. Back when Fraiser was still on and way beyond my level of thinking. Back when Bush #2 was fucking things up (not too say he did any better of a job than this new guy) and Reagan couldn't remember if he was coming or going (if he ever did). Back when Crash Bandicoot games really started to suck and VHI constantly ran series' of shows reflecting on past decades with C-listers commenting on everything, especially themselves, further proving that everyone in Hollywood is a vane, vacuous asshole with an opinion (even if they know nothing of which they are commenting)...

77 punk was to be avoided at all costs, cause it lacks a certain hardness and edge to it (even if it was "edgy" and "hard" at the time it was conceived, but then again, so was Elvis). Hardcore was where it was at and I turned my back to anything from the first wave of punk rock, which actually is accurately called "punk rock" for history Nazis. "We Are All We Have" saw the Casual Ties experimenting with reggae and ska to mixed results. Jorge's voice just murders it if you ask me. The rest is a mixed bag, as is the band. Lyrics still suck, but the band is as tight as ever, with crisp, clean and clear production. I like it, but at the same time, I think I'm only posting it boost traffic. Every time I post a more "mainstream" band, it gets downloaded a lot, even if it readily available on every other punk blog. Fuck it though, it works on two levels. I get to increase flow and that in turns increases downloads on some of the more obscure shit here, cause some actually check out the rest of the site. The Pist fucking kick so much ass that it's difficult to explain how much they do in fact kick ass. They're one of those bands with lyrics that make you think and are actually good. Musically, this is your standard punk or street punk, but it's more a thinking man's kinda band in that you're taken aback by the intelligence behind some of these words. If there ever was a punk band for the true conservative, N.R.A. supporting gun lovers, U.S. Chaos would be that band. They're pretty far to the right when it comes to the majority of the bands I listen to, but the fact is that they're still a damn good Oi! band and one of the first from the great states of the U.S.A. I know there is gonna be some dumb motherfucker posting in the comments because they do cover Skrewdriver...Although it was a song written and recorded before Ian re-tooled the band as the poster child for Hitler's spiritual resurrection.

Is U.S. Chaos patriotic? Yes (it seems), but it's hard to pin-point their true views when so many bands have played the same card, but sarcastically...I'm pretty sure it's a satire of sorts. It is over the top, but the tone doesn't lead you to think that they're anything but serious. I can't really decipher it, so fuck it. Some sources say it's sarcastic, others say no, so I really don't know. Is U.S. Chaos racist? Probably not, but in any P.C. punks mind, being the least bit patriotic qualifies you as card carrying member of the far right. I really don't give a fuck though, so you can suck my dick. Lars & the Bastards kinda covered Skrewdriver to...That motherfucker admitted in an interview that he has a few of their records in his vast collection, and also openly admitted to spinning them. Sure, you won't see Stza or Fat Mike with a Warfare 88 shirt, but come on already, it's 2010 and I believe in a thing called progress...One day Neo-Nazis will be joyfully holding hands with hippies and blacks, skipping lovingly through a field and picking flowers while the homosexual president announces that there is finally world peace. This is an unusual album for this blog and an unusual album for me to like. No Use For A Name and I go way back...Back to the early days of punk for myself. An interesting story I will relay to those who take the time to read this shit.

A long time ago my sister played soccer. On my sister's team, Matt Riddle's (formerly of Face To Face, currently in NUFAN) stepson played alongside her. I was a fat, Star Wars nerd with a skateboard, attempting to learn on the rock covered asphalt of Baldy Mesa Elementary school. Well, my father introduced me to Matt, because he knew we had a mutual love for video games. I peeped his Link tattoo on this calf and knew I had a buddy. Then I found out he played bass for NUFAN (not on the album I'm posting). I only knew them from a Warped Tour Comp I picked up from Hot Topic prior to the meeting. We got to talking and found out he shared a passion for Star Wars (and Lord Of The Rings...ewww). He asked me if I liked punk. I said "yeah, I like Blink 182"...That wasn't really punk, but I was a fat, Star Wars nerd, so it was to me. He pointed me in the direction of The Ramones and is directly responsible for my "transformation". I was so naive at the time, I asked why Ignite had a save the whales thing on one of their albums. He could of just written me off right then and there, but he kept "mentoring" me. He's a nerd and I was (am), so we got along pretty good, discussing everything from bands I should listen to, all the way to references to Star Wars in Kevin Smith films. He gave me "Live In A Dive" and "More Betterness" by NUFAN and a signed comic book that accompanied NUFAN's "Live In A Dive". At the time I didn't understand punk bands' goals were not to get huge and be played on MTV, so I always wished him luck with making it big haha. He was a pretty cool guy.

Then years later, I ran into him at Stater Bros. in Phelan, Ca. and you could see him laughing on the inside cause I looked like a circus freak with my studded leather, liberty spikes, patches, etc. All I could really say to him was "thanks"...So, thanks Matt. Thanks for sending me on this self destructive path of punk, metal and alcohol...You fucking rock and you still owe me a round of Halo!

Matt doesn't play on this record, but it's still my favorite one. Basic 90s pop-punk, but more punk than pop that it's just punk. I like it. Enjoy!

I've been seriously lagging in any posts for the last few months, mainly due to the lack of a computer at my apartment and that I work way too fucking much. Well, I have an opportunity to post something, so I will.

And it's nothing remotely rare or difficult to find in any sense. In fact, you probably already have it. It's No Cash's only full length, "Run Your Pockets". So steeped in Stza worship it is, that I confused them with No Commercial Value for the longest time. It sounds that much like L.O.C. and Choking Victim. Of course it's not, but I can see where the confusion would come in. They're actually a band of unique members with no legitimate connection to the O.G.'s in New York besides being a complete fucking musical and lyrical ripoff. And that is a good thing to be.

This is your standard crack rock, which isn't standard by stretch of the term. It's a musical clusterfuck, that at times has difficulty defining itself in the chaos...But that's where the beauty lies. It's fucking awesome shit. That's all there is to it. If you don't like punkskahiphopmetalcrustetccore, then you won't like this. I've been listening to too much similar shit lately. Check out The Dumpers and My Own Religion to see this enticing "new" subgenre that has sprung up from the blueprint drawn by Stza and the rest of the crack rock steady crew. Enjoy!

Abigail-Forever Street Metal Bitch

Abigail is a Black Metal (more accurately "Blackened Thrash Metal") band from Japan. They're so ridiculously bad, they make Venom sound like fucking Iron Maiden. Musically, it's not really that bad, but it's lyrically over the top enough to the point where Venom could be considered serious. It's kinda hard to take Abigail serious, but I think that's the point. You also gotta love that the song titles are all in the Asian form of butchered English known as Engrish. The Metal Observer posted a pretty negative review that echoes my sentiments (although I actually like it and have somewhat of an appreciation for shitty music). Their review can be read here. I recommend this for any fan of black metal that doesn't take the genre too seriously. If you like stuff like Venom or Toxic Holocaust, you might find some enjoyment to be had here. I'm gonna now go rape a goat and eat babies. Hail Satan!

Does life really hate me? Or so I just hate life? I pose this question to myself in hopes of seeking a cure for my ongoing depression due to the fact that my ex-girlfriend stomped on my soul and shit on my dignity...What a fucking bitch...Life is a bitch. Everyone goes through this bullshit and it can be said that to truly experience life, you have to experience the bad...Whether you'd like to or not. It makes it harder, cause I was with her for two years, we had a kid (who was adopted), and I bought her not one, but two goddamn engagement rings! Plus, it all came out of left field. Everything seemed fine, then I found out she was fucking some other jackass. What really pissed me off, is that she couldn't be honest about it. When she was confronted, she stilled lied about it, even when I read her the Myspace message she wrote to him...

It still haunts me. She fucking inhabits my every fucking other thought and I feel she's just sitting there on her ass, laughing at how much she fucked me up. I don't get women. But on the plus side, I've taken some much needed "me" time. So, I now have lost 30 pounds, gained some muscle and am in the process of becoming a strict vegan (although I still love ripping on animal rights people). And I'm joining the National Guard! Why, cause I can and am not doing anything better with my time...And I really don't value self preservation as much as I used to. So basically: Fuck my life. I also realized that I use commas in such inappropriate, places, that, it would seem, William, Shatner is fucking talking...

What the fuck is the point to this random rant? There is none. Blogs are usually used for:

A.) Bitching about your life
B.) Bitching about politics
C.) Bitching about movies and music
D.) Ripping off the music industry and hard working independent artists that really deserve to have their album bought, but some asshole who really likes the band decides to put it up for free download on his or her blog. An entire universe of music is just a Google search away!

Everyone needs a little bit of street punk in their diet. It makes for a good balance and a wholesome breakfast...Kinda like semen...I could go on and on about how much I despise the genre, yet when it comes down to it, I like punk where you don't have to think. It's juvenile, but haven't we all been at that stage? You know, where spiky hair, bondage pants and leather jackets were the "in" thing for our small band of rejects? You could say that street punk never grows up...There are some bands that don't necessarily fit the preformed mold of a belligerent ass. Career Soldiers was one of those bands. They are not a "smart" band by any stretch, but they did put more effort in their lyrics than Jorge and his motley crew of Casual-Tie wearing businessmen. I'm pretty sure they broke up to, which kinda sucks. I miss seeing them at the Showcase in Corona. I also miss the Showcase in Corona. Fuck balls.

So here's my first post since October...In that time, I have re-discovered what having a life is actually like! Now since I don't have a psychopathic bitch of a girlfriend controlling my every action, I have found that life away from the computer is so much more fulfilling. That being said, I still hate life just as much as I did and hate everything else maybe a little bit more. Now, that's what I call a "positive mental attitude"...Fuck all of it. Fuck this. Fuck that. Normal punk and hardcore doesn't quite do it for me anymore, since I am quite a bit angrier than when I last posted...So now I'm turning more to hardcore of the metal variety. Now I know why fat kids like Metallica so much! With that being said, prepare to rip someone's eyeball's out and shit down their sockets! Death Before Dishonor is Boston Hardcore to the core and it gives me an orgasmic release almost to the point when I blew a load balls deep in my ex's ass! Hahahahaha. And also, not to be racist or anything...FUCK PERUVIAN DRUG DEALERS NAMED RANDY...Seriously, fuck that guy...

Video Game Review: Need For Speed: Shift

Two words: Digitized crack

I am not an avid gamer...In fact, I only play new games every once in a fucking while, when the mood strikes me. Having loved most of the recent Need For Speed games, seeing this game at Best Buy triggered my lust for driving fast without actually doing it. I had some extra money to waste...So I did...

And I am utterly surprised...

This is almost a Gran Turismo or Forza killer (I still regard GT 2 on PS1 to be the best racing game ever). The only thing that handicaps it however, is that there are no where near enough cars to blow either title out of the water. There are some cool cars, yes, but I do like quantity every once in a while...Since I'm bitching about the lack of cars, what happened to all of the classic muscle cars, and why isn't there a 1st (or even 2nd) generation DSM? Fuck that...

Aside from that, we are treated to a game that offers the most realistic driving experience that doesn't suck. It's realistic in the right places, yet still arcadey enough for casual gamers to enjoy. The game begs to be played exclusively in the cockpit camera angle (I am usually a third-person type guy). The inside car view makes you feel like you're actually driving the fucking car. The exhaust note reverberates inside, which gives you the feeling of driving an over $100,000 car with another $200,000 in go-fast goodies. If you hit the wall, it feels like you hit the wall. The mechanics here contribute to a fun factor usually only reserved for Grand Theft Auto titles. Instead of wandering Liberty City, ethnically cleansing the streets of the obese Caucasian policemen that randomly spawn out of thin air when you so happen to "accidentally" let off a few rounds into the back of someone's head, I am racing the game's tracks over and over again and not getting bored...Which is hard for a game to do, especially when you have the attention span of a dirty asshole begging to get fucked. That's just nasty. But, like I said earlier, two words: Digitized crack.

The graphics are top-notch...I play a 360 on a thrift store TV and it still looks good. That, I guess, is the benefit of the 360. The PS3 needs all this high-definition bullshit to look decent, while the 360 is much kinder to those who don't have enough money to buy a fucking $500 television that supports HD and 1080p crap. I'm old school, although only 21. Give me convenience, or give me a fucking boner...And it don't have to be in no HD...What's to say about a society where seeing everything better than real life is valued? Do you really need to know that your favorite porn star doesn't know how to wipe her asshole properly? There are just some things I will never get. I guess we are all spoiled ever since Toy Story came out...And even that's back...In 3D...Fuck...Back on topic...The graphics do kick ass though. I like games that look and play good, and this is one of them.

The customization aspect is back and it is fun, but it doesn't feel anywhere as deep as anything pre-Carbon. It's better than the extremely stripped down one from that poor excuse for a game called Undercover, yet not as deep as Pro-Street was. It lacks, but it's still enjoyable. Hell, maybe I just like tweaking my in-game whip. It's nice to fantasize about owning cars you'll never own, except digitally, or in 1/24 scale. If I had a million dollars, I'd have a 1970 Chevelle SS454...Wait a second...I don't have a million dollars to buy an extremely rare muscle car with an extremely rare option at an extremely high price, so I'll settle on the one in the game...Wait another second...There is no 1970 Chevelle SS454 in the game...Fuck...I guess I'll just settle on my real-life 1992 VW Golf GTi that only has the 1.8 8v motor, and not the desired 16v or even a VR6 swap...Fuck, I need money...

And now I will conclude my review...After I type the word "fuck" again...Twice...

I am hooked on this game like hooked on phonics and high grade hydroponics. It's fun. That's all that should matter. If you like racing games, buy this shit and play it until your Xbox comes down with red-ring of death syndrome. If you don't like racing games, then play that new Halo ODST game I keep hearing about...For all those with a Wii: It must suck to be you.

False Freedom is a punk band from Northern California (Sonora) that I have booked for shows on numerous occasions. The first time I met the band was at a show in Apple Valley years back and then I booked them for a house party at my place. That house party was the shit. I got insanely fucked up and their drummer Kell laid down my first ink. Unfortunately, I passed out...So I'm forever scarred with half the Battalion Of Saints logo on my upper right arm (which I refuse to finish or cover up, for memory's sake)...

My next experience with them was back in 2006, when I asked them to play a Battalion Of Saints show in Victorville at the Trilogy with Naked Aggression, Spitting On Cops, Dirtbag, and a shitload more (It was a 12+ hour show). Kell got into shit with the security guard and the guard chased him out to my truck. The guard threw a fucking boulder through my widow and kicked a dent into my truck when Kell jumped in. It was over some bullshit though and all Kell owes me is a tattoo the next time I see him...Just kidding...I still correspond with Bert, their bassist on occasion...But I have no idea as to the activity of the band.

The albums here, which I have no art for, were released on Stungun Records. Fuck, I'm not even sure the names of the albums...All I know, is that it's punk rock at it's finest...Raw, shitty and loud. Enjoy!

Movie Review: Suburbia

Since I reviewed SLC Punk last night, i might as well review that other punk movie.

Suburbia kicks ass cause it sucks. It is B-movie garbage with horrible acting, but it has qualities which I love in film...Any movie where a kid gets killed gets points from me. That classic moment aside, there's nothing much else to be had here, except for some pretty cool live performances (D.I., TSOL and The Vandals) and some laughably horrendous acting.

It is really cool though that director Spheeris decided to give the roles to real kids involved in the subculture instead of actors playing punks (except for one, I believe). This gives the film a certain authenticity that is usually only reserved for certain documentaries. "Suburbia" is the only narrative film that could really be called a true punk movie...

Any way you look at it though, this is a bad and sadly broken film, although I wasn't expecting any greatness or "oh my gawd!" effect. It's just bad for all the good reasons and is certainly a film that I can go back to again and again for years to come.

On another note, Rob Rotten's pseudo-remake porn entitled "Little Runaway" is actually a better movie. And not just because of the nudity and hardcore whoopee. The acting is better. Seriously, it is. Anyways...

"Suburbia" is a good bad movie. I highly recommend it.

Movie Review: SLC Punk

I've seen this film once before...When I was 16. It was good then. Now, I'm 21 and I decided to relive a film that had some bearing on the development of who I am today...

Maybe I avoided this film again because of the obvious stigma this movie holds in the punk community. Most view it as a piece of shit. Maybe it is, but only if you really want to call it a "punk" movie. It's basically an 80s teen comedy set in punk land. There's nothing wrong with 80s teen comedy's (John Hughes was the shit...RIP), but the movie should not be taken as a guideline for impressionable youths trying to defy social norms by dressing trendy with all the sheep. It works as what I said it works as. Anything else however, it fails miserably...

It's basically a 90 minute long introduction. The film is basically "Hey, I'm a punk and I believe in anarchy" and "Now that you know that, here's my friends, who are mostly punks and believe in anarchy as well"...And the film even calls anarchy a "system of government", when it's clearly just "no government", followed by personal opinion whether you talk to a crusty or a chaos punk about it...The film fails in that there really isn't a plot type plot. It just presents things as they are in Salt Lake City and babbles on for fucking ever...And if there is a plot, it's hidden good as fuck, because you're distracted every other minute by some stupid flashback (some of which are funny) or a pointless rant by Shaggy. It fucking blows. It kinda works like a pilot episode, in that they set up and introduce for the whole run time...What's sad is that this also wouldn't work as a pilot, cause they kill off the only character that's likable (Heroin Bob).

It ends on too much of a downer. Someone always dies in these punk movies. It's like the kid in Suburbia, except that part was funny. This movie loses it's humor and get's all up it's ass in the third act. Fuck that. Make me laugh for fuck's sake. It's a fucking comedy. But still, my biggest gripe is that they don't kill off Shaggy...

Fuckin' Shaggy lives, but the lovable Travis Bickle look alike doesn't? What the fucking fuck!

And then there's the ending, after Bob dies...

This movie says more against punk than it does for it. So, the next time some 16 year old kid at Hot Topic buys it, I hope he or she gets the fucking message. Stop fucking dressing like a clown and get a god damned job you fucking waste of life. I hope you get aids and die. Thank Joe Pesci for this movie.

The movie would of been good if Heroin Bob were the lead character. Matthew Lillard is unlikeable in every movie I've seen him in. You feel no compassion for his character whatsoever. You feel bad for Bob and that's about it. Fuck this film.

I really hate the majority of what comes through my email. Some of the shit is so god awful bad that it makes Limp Bizkit sound like a viable listening option. Thankfully, these guys are only half bad. These guys are called Emergency Hour and hail from Albuquerque, New Mexico. They have been making tune-age since they were in 8th grade and have been around for a few years now. There are elements of both punk rock and early hardcore to be found here...

In all honesty, they remind me of all those obscure musically talented hardcore punk bands from Bumfuck nowhere that only released one or two EPs or LPs (that can be found on some of those other blogs) and then abruptly drifted off into the abyss. There is something to be said about all of those hardcore gems that circulate the internet...And that is that most of them suck, but some are still great. I find this to be somewhere in the upper middle to higher end, you know...Half bad, but still kinda fucking really good...The vocals kind of turned me off a bit at first, but they grew on me, kinda like a tumor or Bob Saget does. Hell, I can find fault with everything though, except for maybe food, cause I'm fat. So, I am recommending it. It's punk rock, in all it's shit-tasticly good glory. I like it...So, enjoy!

Bad Religion-How Could Hell Be Any Worse?

Bad Religion's remastered version of "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" is basically a remastered version of "80-85"...This is basically everything released during that period except for their progressive rock piece of shit, "Into The Unknown" (which has been purposely out of print since it's release). It includes "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?", the "Bad Religion" EP, the "Back To The Known" EP and Bad Religion's three tracks from the "Public Service" compilation released on Smoke 7 Records in 1981 (Re-issued in 2003 on Puke & Vomit Records).

It's worth noting that the band doesn't really sound like Bad Religion until the "Back To The Known" EP (Tracks 21-25), where Graffin adopts his signature vocal sound...You can't hear any hints of "Suffer" or "No Control" really on anything except for that. The rest is your standard, yelled-vocal, fast as fuck hardcore punk with very little melodic sensibility when lined up to their later material. Sure, there is some pop-sensibility...Certainly more so than other bands of the time...One other thing that could be said though, is that the songs don't all sound alike. I mean, for hardcore punk that is...They hadn't yet fallen into the whole "Bad Religion" trap where everything sounds the fucking same...Either way, they were and still are, a great band. This is a great record. Enjoy!

To be honest, Agression's self-titled record doesn't hold nearly as much of a special place in my heart as "Don't Be Mistaken" does...That doesn't mean it's a bad record in my eyes, it's just not as good. I'm sure that there'll be some asshole who comments and says "You don't know what you're talking about" and "Your blog sucks ass"...Hell, I readily admit that my blog does in fact, suck ass, but I have my opinions and opinions are like assholes in that everyone has one. Let's say, this is more rock than punk rock, but still punk as fuck and a bit more technical...It's fucking badass, just not as classic as "Don't Be Mistaken". Revolution Mother-Glory Bound

I saw these guys open for Social Distortion about a year and a half back. They stole the show. Revolution Mother is Mike Vallely's second music venture, the prior being Mike V. & The Rats. Revolution Mother pretty much blows The Rats out of the water and fucks them with an icepick. Musically, they sound like what the mid-80s Black Flag should of sounded like, or maybe even a slowed down version of Zeke. Basically, it's hard driving metal-tinged punk rock that is primarily played at a not too fucking fast tempo, but still never looses any of it's energy. It's fucking good. You should download it...Enjoy!

Suicidal Tendencies-Prime Cuts

Suicidal Tendencies has always been one of the more musically polarizing bands. They have never truly conformed to one genre, and while they are rooted primarily in crossover thrash and hardcore, they do experiment with funk and some other shit from time to time. This doesn't really cause a major rift in their fan base, like the whole Danzig/Graves/"I like em both, but fuck Only" thing does for the Misfits, but there are the distinct camps of diehard Suicidal fans who like it all and then there's the "Hey, I like their hardcore albums, but everything else is ass" clique.

"Prime Cuts" is greatest hits of sorts, but it only includes the material made during their years on Epic, so expect it to be heavy on thrash and funk, while being light on punk. Even the songs from their first record are the re-recorded ones from "Still Cyco..." that sucks ass. Rest assured, there is something here for everyone. It's definitely worth a listen, but I seriously recommend sifting through their entire discography, as there are plenty of gems to be found...And yes, you will have to sit through some shit...Download this for a taste, then get on the other blogs or get a fucking torrent to get the rest (You could buy it?). I'm lazy and am not posting the rest out of fear of Mike Muir showing up at my house and kicking my ass. I figure they won't care too much on this one, cause this was an unauthorized release to begin with...Enjoy!
